Cartoons that need to be release on DVD

One of my favorite cartoons growing up was Beetlejuice.

The Beetlejuice cartoon was based off of the Tim Burton movie but there are several differences between the movie and the cartoon series.

Adam and Barbare aren't in the cartoon.
Lydia is more of a happy goth in the cartoon.
Beetlejuice is more of an anti-hero then a villain, and he and Lydia are friends.
The Neitherworld is completely different as well.

Despite being different from the movie the cartoon is still quite good and I hope that it will someday come out on DVD.

Amazing Spider-Man

So I decided to go see “The Amazing Spider-Man” Going in I had a lot of doubts about this movie. One of the reasons why this movie exist in the first place is because Sony only had a certain amount of time to make a Spider-Man movie or the movie rights would go back to Marvel.

The Good

Andrew Garfield does a great job as Spider-Man. Unlike Tobey Maguire Garfield’s Spidey seems more alive and closer to the comics.

Emma Stone does a great job playing Gwen Stacy. And in my opinion she’s a better actress then Kirsten Dunst.

Martin Sheen is perfect in the role of Uncle Ben. You really feel sad when his character gets killed.

The Bad

Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker is not as good as Tobey’s. Tobey bought out the shy awkwardness of Peter Parker better then Garfield. Garfield looks like a skater punk wannabe.

Sally Field really doesn’t look the part of Aunt May. She’s a great actress but she just isn’t Aunt May.

The origin story is rushed through. You can clearly tell that the story writers clearly didn’t want to tell the story of Peter becoming Spider-Man again.

The Lizard is completely goofy, and his plan to turn everyone into lizards comes across more as a joke then a serious threat.

Final thoughts

All in all “The Amazing Spider-Man" is not a bad movie. It’s better then “Spider-Man 3” but I can’t that it’s better then the first two Spider-Man movies.

BeetleJuice

Today I thought I'd talk a little bit about one of my favorite movies.BeetleJuice.
BeetleJuice is probably Tim Burton's most popular movie. In fact Tim Burton is often credited as the creation of BeetleJuice by most people.

The story of BeetleJuice was created by Michael McDowell and Larry Wilson.
McDowell's script is more violent then what we got in the final version of BeetleJuice that we all know and love. The Maitlands' car crash is a lot more violent in McDowell's script. In the original script Barbara's arm gets crushed.A reference to this remains in the final version when Barbara Barbara says that her arm feels cold.
The character of BeetleJuice was originally going to be winged demon who looks like a Middle Eastern man. He wanted to rape Lydia instead of marrying her.
There also would have been a second Deetz child named Cathy.

All in all it sounds like the original script would have had more horror elements. There are some cool ideas in the original scripts, but I think that the final version that we ended up getting was for the best.
